Bring your passion, energy, and appetite to The Culinary Guild of New England's kick-off meeting. Hear about our guild events and goals for the coming year, including our mission to help combat childhood obesity. Cupcake, Cupcake

Join us for a cupcake extravaganza with award-winning cake decorator Lisa Raffael, owner of Delicious Desserts of Falmouth, MA. Lisa was recently named on the A-List for Best Wedding Cake in Boston by CBS Channel 4. She'll be showing us how to decorate designer cupcakes, drawing on her experience of having designed, baked, decorated, and delivered more than 1100 wedding cakes since she opened Delicious Desserts in 1993. Serenade Chocolatier Valentine - Sold Out!

Please join fellow Guild member Nur Kilic at her lovely shop, Serenade Chocolatier, for a hands-on chocolate workshop. Nur will discuss the history of chocolate, demystify the the fine art of tempering and clarify the distinctions among chocolate: milk versus dark, sweet versus bittersweet and more. Each participant will make cherry pecan bark, bonbons with almond, cashew or pistachio butter fillings. You will also learn how to decorate chocolate using a Valentine theme transfer sheet. Lastly, everyone will make a heart-shaped chocolate box to hold their delicious confections! To be held at Serenade Chocolatier, 5 Harvard Square, Brookline. (Please note: This Harvard Square address is NOT in Cambridge but in Brookline Village. Harvard Square is the first 2 blocks of Harvard Street just off Route 9.)

Are you an aspiring or accomplished food writer or cookbook aficionado? Curious about the Boston restaurant scene? Or, do you just want to enjoy a delicious dinner in a beautiful new kichen in the glow of a wood burning oven?

Join Clara Silverstein for dinner and an intimate chat in the beautiful Concord home of one of our members. Clara is the author of The Boston Chef's Table, a beautiful book which takes you into some of the top kitchens in the city to give you a collection of recipes that you can try at home. Chefs who contributed recipes to this collection include Ming Tsai of Blue Ginger, Todd English of Olives, Jody Adams of Rialto, Jasper White of The Summer Shack, Geoff Gardner of Sel de la Terre, and Chris Schlesinger of The East Coast Grill. Copies of the book will be available for purchase.

Springtime Potluck Brunch

Celebrate the arrival of Spring with the Guild at a potluck brunch. Longtime Guild member Lou Schorr will cook omelets to order and mimosas, coffee, tea and juice will be served. Bring your favorite brunch treat to share. This event will take place at the lovely home of Sally LaRhette in South Natick.

JUNE 2008

Guild Yard Sale at Verrill Farm

Saturday, June 21 at TBA
The Guild is hosting a culinary yard sale at the Verrill Farm Strawberry Festival on Saturday, June 21st. All the proceeds, after expenses, will be donated to Operation Frontline whose mission is teaching children about healthy nutrition.

Items can be dropped of at Verrill Farm or we can arrange pick up (minimum of 3 items). We also need members to help set up and to staff the booth (2 hour shifts).

Special Opportunity for Guild Cookbook Authors, Artists & More:
Donate a book or product to the sale to earn a spot at the Guild Marketing table. This will allow you to market and/or sell your book or product to the public.
